Towards the end of 1947, a Children’s Ball was held with over 500 people attending. These became annual events.

In 1948, Sisters Beatrice (Hickey), Dorothy Murphy and Thomas Francis Carroll arrived at the Dee Why Convent and to the job of travelling daily to the Narrabeen parish of St Joseph to teach around 300 children.
Sister Beatrice recalled those times
The day started very early for the nuns with prayers, Mass and household chores, a bite to eat and a quick walk from the Convent to Pittwater Road to catch the bus - all before a full day’s teaching!
